Willie James Perry, also known as the Birmingham Batman, was a well-known Good Samaritan who provided free rides to citizens of the Magic City. He lived by the motto "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you."
One day Willie heard about a group of men who stopped to help a woman whose car had broken down. However, instead of helping her, the men raped her. As a husband and a father, this event resonated so deeply with Willie that he decided to do his best to ensure that future situations like this would not happen again around Birmingham.
Without wasting any time, he bought a 1971 Thunderbird and gave it a complete makeover to turn it into his very own rescue ship. His hero-themed color scheme, fire extinguisher, extra gasoline, and CB, beacon lights made it fully equipped for any emergency situation. He also added a toaster and a Atari video game console.
We started williejperryfoundation.org with a simple goal in mind: to create a platform that makes it easy for people to connect with others who share their interests and passions. Our journey has been a long and winding one, but we're proud of what we've accomplished so far.
